Kings Park & Smithtown area residents have a choice to make tonight.  Liverpool Shuffle will be appearing at the Smithaven Mall from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Strawberry Fields will be appearing at the Smithtown Library from 8:00pm to 9:30pm. Both are Beatles tribute bands. AMC Lowes Stonybrook 17 will be showing never-before-seen Greatful Dead Movie titled Beat Club 4/21/72 shown in its entirety. Free Live Music in the Town of Smithtown Area

Free Live Music in the Town of Smithtown Area is available five nights a week during July and August for Long Island residents who live in or near Commack, Fort Salonga,  Hauppauge, Head of  the Harbor, Kings Park, Lake Ronkonkoma, Nesconset, Nissequogue and Smithtown.

On Sunday nights the Smithtown Recreation Department presents Summer Concert Series at Hoyt Farm Park Preserve on New Highway in Commack and The Village of Lake Grove Gazebo on Moriches Road in Lake Grove.  Click on the Hoyt Farm Park Preserve link below scroll to page 34 and 35 of the Smith Recreation 2014 Program Guide for more information.

On Tuesday nightsThe Nesconset Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and County Legislator of  John M. Kennedy sponsor the 6th Annual Free Outdoor Concert Series at the Nesconset Gazebo on Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset.

On Wednesday The Sunken Meadow Pavilion provides live music during the Lobster Fest on the Boardwalk at Sunken Meadow State Park.  Tables are available for paying customers, but, there is plenty of room on the boardwalk for residents who bring their own chairs.

On Thursday nights Fairway Market Lake Grove sponsors free concerts at the Smithaven Mall in the courtyard near Dicks Sporting Goods and on the lawn of the Smithtown Library on Main Street in Smithtown.

On Friday Night Musical Moments in Kings Park presented by the Kings Park Civic Association and Kings Park Chamber at the Russ Savatt Park on main Street.

Free Outdoor Concert Series at the Gazebo In Nesconset

The 4th Anual Free Outdoor Concert Series at the Gazebo in Nesconset continues tonight with a performance by Jerry Castanzo and his 9 piece swing band singing songs of  Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett.


The music starts at 7:30 at the gazebo next to the Nesconset Library across from the Nesconset Plaza-127 Smithtown Boulevard.


It is recommended that guest bring a lawn Chair off Blanket to the show.  Please call 631-724-2543 after 3:00 pm for concert status in case of inclement weather.  


This years concert series has been bought to you by The Nesconset Chamber of Commerce and Suffolk County Legislator John M. Kennedy . Te Program has been funded by the Suffolk County Executives Office.

Kings Park Class of 75 Reunion Picnic

Kings Park Class of 75 Reunion Picnic in the park at Callahan's Beach, Fort Salonga, NY. All Kings Park Classmates from all years are welcome! We will be sharing the Picnic area with the Kings Park Volunteer Fire Department, they have hired A DJ.  


It will be a bring your own food, charcoal, paper and plastic cups plates ect. There are public restrooms near the picnic tables under the trees, there are public grilles if you do not want to bring a portable grille. Non Resident Vehicle Parking Fee is $10.00 per vehicle per day at the Park.

Free Friday Night Concerts in Kings Park NY

Free Friday Night Concerts in Kings Park NY begins on July 8th 2011.  Musical moments in Kings Park is presented by the Kings Park Civic Association and the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce.  These free Friday Night concerts will be performed (weather permitting) at the Russ Savatt Park on Main Street, Kings Park NY.  All shows begin at 7:00 PM and conclude at 8:30 PM.  Concert attendees must provide their own seating.

The July schedule features:
The Paul Henry Duo playing popular tunes and ending with a sing-along on July 8th
The Acoustic 5" -featuring Gary Pumilia playing popular music for all ages on July 15th.
"Nick of Time featuring Ron Vulpis playing rock from the 60's-90's along with pop & country on July 22

Live Concerts in Smithtown NY

Live Concerts return to Smithtown NY starting tonight Thursday July 7th at the Branch Shopping Plaza with Big Shot, a Billy Joel Tribute Band! Smithtowns 2011 Dennis Cannataro Family Concert Series is hosted by the Smithtown  Library and and Suffolk County Legislator Lynne Nowick.

The 2011 Live concerts will run through August 25th, all concerts in Smithtown are scheduled to start at 8:00 PM at the Branch Shopping Plaza on Main street in Smithtown. All the concerts will be free admission and as in past years it is recommended that all concert attendees bring blankets and portable chairs.

Live Music at the Beach in Smithtown, NY This 4th of July Weekend

Three Town of Smithtown recreation facilities will have live music at the Beach in Smithtown, NY this holiday weekend. Short Beach, Long Beach and the Roger Balducci Marina in Stony Brook Harbor will have Live Music and will be serving beer and wine plus will have an extended menu at the concession stands this weekend.

The owner of Foxies Ice Cream and Snacks Mr Fred Fox said live music at the beach in Smithtown will only be done twice this summer. Live music will be performed Saturday and Sunday at Short Beach and Long Beach this Saturday and Sunday and at the Roger Balducci Marina on Monday. Labor Day weekend will be the other time there will be Live Music at the beach in Smithtown Parks.

Mr Fox said that these special weekend events are being held with cooperation with the Town of Smithtown and will be low key family events intended to liven up activities at the beach.

Farmers Market Opens In Kings Park, NY

Getting your daily intake of fruits and veggies just got a little tastier with the opening of the Kings Park Farmers happening this Sunday at the town municipal lot on Main Street.
The market, which is being held in partnership with the Kings Park Civic Association and Friends &Farmers opens at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will run through mid November.
Produce is not limited to just fruits and veggies. Shoppers can expect to find fish caught off Long Island waters, grass-fed beef, eggs and cheeses.
“We are looking forward to supporting local producers in addition to strengthening our community ties and downtown business area by bringing a farmers market to Kings Park,” said market organizers Aly Ekish-Swartz and Ann Marie Nedell.

Carnival in Kings Park NY at The Kings Park Plazza

Starting on Wednesday June 8th through June Sunday June 12th 2011 there will be a Carnival in Kings Park NY at the Kings park Plaza (Key Food / TJ Max Shopping Center). The carnival hours will be 4 to 11 Pm on Wednesday and Thursday and from 12:00 to 11:00 PM from Friday to Sunday.



The money raised at this Carnival in Kings Park NY will be used to help the Airmid Theatre Company free Summer Theatre Festival. Jack and the princess who never laughed will run from July 5th to Jully 22nd. 

Performances run Monday ttrough Friday, show times are 1:00 PM.
All performances will be held at the Nissequogue River State Park. The Aimid Theatre Company advises all theater-goers to arrive early and enjoy a picnic before the performance. Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Fundraiser at Celtic Crossing in Kings Park NY

Lisa Plati Fiorentine and Rob Occhipintiwill be hosting a Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Fundraiser at Celtic Crossing in Kings Park NY to be held on May 7th starting at 7:00 PM.  Ray Marchad and John Fiorentine will be guest bartenders from 7 to 9 PM.  All the tips collected during that time will be donated to the Crohns And Colitis Foundation.

Robert Occhipinti is a local Kings Park resident with Chrons disease will be participating in a marathon needs support to help him succeed.

Many kings Park residents have donated Raffle Gifts, more donations are welcome.  Lisa and john are urging all current or former Kings Park residents to show their love of this community by attending the Crohn's and Colitis foundation Fundraiser at Celtic Crossing in Kings Park NY.

Sunken Meadow Park Hearing Scheduled for March 3rd

The Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) will hold a public meeting Thursday March 3rd at 7:00 pm at the Kings Park High School.  The purpose of this meeting will be to invite public participation in the planning process of the Governor Alfred E. Smith Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park.  The OPRHP will provide an overview of the park and the master plan process followed by a period of time to receive public input about the park.

Anyone who cannot attend the meeting can mail written comments to Mark Hohengasser, Park Planning, Agency Building 1, 17th floor, Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12238.  Information packets about the master plan are available at nyparks.com/inside-ouragency/master-plans.aspx  for more information call  OPRHP regional office at 631-269-4333 or Mr. Hohengasser at 518-486-2909.

The deadline to submit written comments is April 4th 2011.  the OPRHP plans to prepare a draft of the master plan and environmental impact statement by September 2011 and hold a public hearing in October 2011.  The final plan is expected to be completed by January 2012 and to adopt the findings of the plan and impact statement by February 2012.

According to the information packet Sunken Meadow State Park is one of the Long Islands premiere state parks.  The Park has almost three miles of sandy beach, a boardwalk, Pavilions with bath houses and changing area, three nine hole golf courses, a driving range, sports fields, trails and picnic areas.

More than 2.5 Million people visit the park every year and the public golf courses are the most played in the country.

In the mid 1990s the state replace the boardwalk, however the OPRHP reports the the aging infrastructure is deteriorating from heavy use and are in need of repairs and upgrading to meet public demand.
